Help us to recover Tarus Eye Center in Odesa, Ukraine after the missile attack!

This website is organized to help recover Tarus Eye Clinic in Odesa, Ukraine after russian missile attack. For over 25 years, our clinic, owned and run by AIESEC Odesa alumni family Ruslan Shchipun and Masha Rosada, brought warmth and dedication that comes from a family united in our mission. This cherished establishment is a testament to the unwavering family commitment, working hand in hand to bring vision and healing to those in need.

Starting from April 14, 1998, our clinic have been dedicated to providing exceptional eye care services to Ukrainians. Tragically, on June 14, 2023, our clinic became a victim of the devastating war between Ukraine and Russia. Our building and equipment were heavily demolished by a Russian missile attack, leaving us with significant losses.

In the wake of this unimaginable destruction, we are determined to rise again and continue serving those in need. Tarus Laser Eye Clinic holds the distinction of being the first private ophthalmological clinic in Ukraine, and we had just celebrated our 25th anniversary two months prior to this heart-wrenching tragedy.

Preliminary evaluation of losses.

Fortunately, none of our dedicated personnel were injured during the attack, as it occurred during the night. However, the destruction caused significant damage to our equipment. Almost 30% of our valuable resources and equipment, worth approximately 1 million Euro, were either destroyed or rendered unusable. Among the losses were crucial surgical equipment for cataract and LASIK procedures, as well as essential diagnostic devices for ophthalmology, including autorefractometers and phoropters.

List of necessary equipment

We are looking for any types of new, used or refurbished medical equipment to restore our surgical and diagnostics activities. Here is the non-exclusive list:

  • slit lamps
  • autorefractometers
  • phoropters
  • surgical opthalmological microscopes
  • patient monitors
  • anesthesiology equipment
  • ophthalmic perimetry diagnostics equipment
  • direct and non-direct ophthalmoscopes

Insurance and bank loans issues during the war.

While we had insurance coverage, unfortunately, it did not come into effect due to the unforeseen circumstances of war. Additionally, obtaining a bank loan or credit during this time is nearly impossible. Therefore, we are reaching out to the international community for support and assistance. We are seeking all possible avenues to acquire the necessary funds and equipment to rebuild our clinic and resume serving our patients.

The Tarus Laser Eye Clinic has always been a place of hope and healing, and we refuse to let this tragedy define us. We firmly believe in the power of unity and the generosity of humanity. With your help, we can restore our clinic to its former glory and continue providing exceptional eye care to those who rely on us.
